I'm going to touch-up my wheel wells, and I have to paint my spare tire carrier, which is currently stock grey, in black. Should I look for a specific black ? Should I use a flat, or semigloss paint ?
I'm not looking for NCRS standards in color matching, but I don't want to be noticeably off color either.
What worked for you ?
Thanks

Flat or semi-flat.  Don't want a gloss under there to reflect headlights from behind.  Flat black will just disappear.

Thanks 71,

I'll stop at Pep Boys in the morning and take a look. I didn't think gloss would look good either.

I used a satin finish on mine.  Semed to work pretty well.....

Thanks Anthony,
I'll be at Tom's finishing the sway bar. Since the tire carrier is half out, I figured I might as well paint it.

I recently painted my spare tire carrier.  I used spray on "truck bed lining" in a rattle can I got at Advance Auto.  It has a textured look and dries semi flat.  I was very pleased with how it turned out and looks good under the car

Thanks everyone, I used black satin and it looks good Thumbs%20Up ! While I was under there, I cleaned up some minor rust spots, and treated it with a rust arrester.
That's it for this year. Next will be the AC Cool
