Howdy Guys..My T-tops are completely out of whack, almost like if they belonged on another car. They're both sticking out further than the stationary part of the roof (great terminology, isn't it), and one is not parallel with an imaginary line going straight from the front of the car to back. In other words, there isn't an even gap between the two panels front to back. I know there is a way to adjust these if you remove the headliner, but does anybody know if those chrome doo-hickeys (lock plates) need repositioning? That's a job best left to an experienced glass man, I think...Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks, Guys!

I just re-read my own posting. I'm tripping over my own words...too many years in the anatomical/technical field, I guess. Simply put: THEY AIN'T ON STRAIGHT----- how can I fix'em (LOL)!!!

What year do you have? On my 80, the adjustments are made by removing the plastic caps near the center pillar and loosening the nuts that hold the shims in place. This allows you to remove shims if the panel sits to high, plus it allows you to adjust your center line so that both tops are even from front to back. Hope this helps... |thumb|

there is actually three adjustments angles with the t-tops. the shimes can be removed to lower the tops. this allows/gives more pressure onto the rubber seal to keep the water out. but taking to many off can cause the glass to crack when you try to lock them in place. second, obviously, add shimes to raise the tops etc. the third is to move the silver flangs right or left. this allows for the proper angle fit into the flang slot in the cross bar. sometimes these are not set in straight and you cant get a good fit if the flang hits to early into the slot. oh, dont try to take off the screws where the rod lock slides into. if you loosen them to try an adjustment the nuts on the other side will drop off inside. giving you yet another little project to do. trust me i know.

and one other thing it makes it right by having the little rubber cap on the lock screw head. this makes for a tight seal.

Does anyone make a replacement lock rod for the t-top? Mine is worn at the tip and therefore will not engage the alarm switch at the rear hatch.
