Hey, Larry...does yers have the stainless trim all the way across the back, side to side? When they "deleted" that piece is when they changed the front "t-bar" to compensate. Cookie, I'll run out and measure mine.... Joel,
I'm totally confused (easy to do) here are the measurements provided by the seller. It doesn't like it will fit. He also has some very nice trim which I decided (if they fit) to buy also

Here are the measurements provided:

Hey Cookie, the front edge I have two measurments because of the tapper 30 1/2"& 39 1/4" the Rear measurement across is 9" and front to back over the rail is 27 5/8", I would call a Corvette Specialty shop because they should be the same fit to check. Front    Rear Click for larger images The measurement from the front edge, by the windshield, to the rear edge, is 27 15/16". (total length of the piece, front to rear, in the center)

Translation Table:

Across the windsheild measuring the curve: Inside Curve = 30 1/2"
Outside Curve = 39 1/4"

Across the rear Targa:
Side to Side = 9"

Windsheild to Targa:
Front Lip to Back Lip = 27 5/8"

Does that make better sense?

My front measurement is centered across the piece, just as the lines show...
The measurement across the rear is exactly as shown, also.
The front to rear(total seems to be in question. I can re-measure when I get home...

I stand by my original measurement on the front to rear. Mine measures just a tad under 27 15/16". If you want to make an allowance for a variance in tape measures, it could conceivably be 27 5/8". There can also be a variance in the original pieces. Not everything was perfect to start with...

The 9" measurement across the rear section would cause me to worry...Mine is absolutely 10 5/8". If you take off the 1 5/8 inch that the '76 measures at, then the stainless piece would not reach to the other chrome trim that goes across the rear.(side to side)
The piece will fit(bolt on)...it just won't fit properly. There'll be about a 3/4" gap between the stainless trim(t-bar) and the chrome trim across the top/sides.Adams' Apple2007-03-08 05:47:50

Joel that's exactly what happened with one of the pieces I had purchased, the rear section came up short and didn't reach the chrome trim.
Jim, (rearn2go) says his friend put a 76 on a 74.
But Tux says his doesn't have the chrome trim from side to side. If that's the way the 76's are (no chrome trim) then it won't make a difference if the rear of the t-bar is short. Mine has the trim so I have to make sure it reaches both sides.

Well it looks like the first t-top bar isn't going to fit. I'm now looking at another one on E-bay advertised as fitting 68 to 74 starting at $10.
The problem is that no matter how I've explained it to the seller, he can't comprehend what to measure. I even sent him the pictures that Joel posted doh
This is his quote " I got your email but I have no idea where you are taking these measurements from.  Sorry I can't be of more help". Either this is a scam, or this has to be the dumbest M%#*Censored out there. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, even I can take a measurement, especially when I have a picture to look at.
I bet he's a politician LOL

Sorry Cookie I didn't see this until this morning. I went out and measured the bar again. (BBBBRRR)I'm stickin with my 27 5/8" in length and yep I agree with Joel's other measurements. The back piece which seems to be in question is 9" on Tux.
From what I am reading the center bar fits but won't mate up with the Targa Trim is that correct? Can you go without the Targa Trim or was that the point of the project to cover up the T bar and the Targa rails both? If it is close can you have "extenders" made from stainless to capture the gap? These would be realitively small and inexpensive to fabricate I would think. This would give you that finished look that you were originally after.

Tux,
Joel's measurements would be exactly what I would need and should match up with the trim.
I'm hoping to bring my car out of hibernation today Hugand will take a look at mine. I would prefer to keep the trim, besides I don't know where to begin to look for someone who would make the "extenders" I think these will fit. I'm going to bid at the last minute.
BTW @ 2:AM this morning, Mr. Calculus sent me the measurements and it looks like a match.
I intend to bid on the $10 T-bar ( the other one won't fit ) But the corner trim the first seller has looks brand new and I will bid on them.
Larry thanks a bunch you and Joel have been a great help.
Cookie

Cookie,

I apologize for misleading you on the 76 being the same as the 74. I called my buddy today that was doing the change. He said he had a bunch of them hanging in his shop and would go check and get back to me. He called me right back and said there is definitely a difference in the measurement on the back of the bar. He said he had just picked one off the wall that was the same as the 74 and thought it had come off a 76.

The good news is he has several of the 74 T-bars. If you don't get the one on ebay, let me know and i'll send you one at my expense. This guy has been collecting corvette pars for over 30 years and has lots of C2 abd C3 NOS parts. He has recently started selling on ebay under the ID of genes64corvette.

Jim,
Don't fret over it, at least now I know for sure. It looks like the 68 to 74 match, 75 and up seem to be different. I just placed a bid on one that "if the guy took the right measurements it looks like I may have my t-top bar. If it doesn't work I'll let you know.
Your offer is very generous, but not necessary. we're all just trying to help each other.

OK, here's my new dilemma. The guy selling the 76 t-bar which I can't use is also auctioning the t-top windshield trim, it really looks nice and I can make a deal with the guy. The problem is does anyone know if the trim will be of different measurements like the t-bar ?
