According to the black book, 1982 Option code V54 Roof Panel Carrier, 1,992 Quantity made @ $144.00. No comment in black book about this option not being available on the CE.

Since they are easily removable, and you can't use them like a regular pre-1978 luggage rack, and since mine came with a gold bag that matches a CE car, I would suspect they could have been ordered on them.

The only way to know for sure is find a CE with the lugs already in the glass.

I have seen Black, Red and blue bags as well. Don't know if there were other colors.

If the holes are in the deck, chances are, they are original. My paint guy said it would be rough to try and fill the holes, given how large (somewhat bigger than a .25 cent piece size). the hole is for them. He said any fill anyone did, even laying in the glass would cause cracking over time.
Does your friends car have the lugs? If not, I would strongly suspect that it didn't come with that option.

The CE's do have this as an option.

I'm sorry to say that all the bags for the 82's were black with production numbers inside. Any other color was done by someone else. If not, check the NCRS people.

Our glass has no holes in them. The holes were placed behind the glass and though the fiberglass rear deck just before the rear bumper. Two holes on each side while the gas door was visable and accomadates for fillups while the t-tops are on the back strapped.

Not sure if this is true so check the NCRS people. I say only black.

If there were four holes behide the glass window in the fiberglass deck then it's an original option.
Besides I wouldn't fill the holes up. You never know where you'll find a t-top holder.

When I said glass, I meant fiberglass. There are two rubber mount buttons that rest on the glass, and two that screw into the deck.
I have seen red mounts and black mounts. Both look to be factory and bear the corvette logo on the mounts pieces.
It would be interesting to see if the NCRS folks have even researched this far. I wasn't aware that they had even gotten as far as the 80 - 82.
Joel,
Any thoughts on the NCRS stance for the later cars with the T-Top Mounts, Option Code V54 regarding colors of mounts and colors of bags?
Mine is also NCRS, NOT CORRECTLY RESTORED CORVETTE. I would have been a nice parts car for someone wanting to go back to factory, but I like her just the same.

She's a bute !

That's what you're looking for. The optional V54 roof panel carrier available 80-82. If the carrier was ordered, the holes on the rear deck and wellnuts were installed at the factory. There are no holes in the back window. Carrier itself was shipped inside the car in a black vinyl bag which clips to the wheel house in the rear storage area on the passenger's side.
Four pieces (two outboard ends and two centers), plus tie-down straps for the tops, and the vinyl carry/storage bag not shown in this pic. These are not being reproduced and are difficult to find in good shape. They occasionally pop up on ebay.
Good luck with the hunt.

Actually, the center piece is one piece. The side pieces fold down onto the center piece for stowage in the bag.
The straps (2 per side) have rectangular metal pieces on one end of the straps that hook onto the center posts you see sticking up in the pic above.
The other end is a rectangular piece of plastic that hooks at two points on the outboard end.
The two straps come into one with a takeup piece to pull the slack out. There is also a rubber bumper piece to keep the straps up.
However, I will tell you that the straps will leave rub marks on the tops and the rubber bumper piece will leave two round marks on the top. I have not been able rub them out. I have not taken a buffer to them yet.
This was on the trip to the museum and back.
