Ok need help, no not with the door open dome/flor light will not come on drivers side, no not the intermeittent alarm giong off driving down the road, no not that the speedo needle is not working???
but about the windows and fit against the t-top rubber molding.
Last year put on new molding on the t-tops bought at the Carlise show. Maybe the wrong (cheap) (hard rubber kind) but anyway. My question is how is it to fit into the molding. Is teh top of the window to go into the groove or is it just to butt up against the outside of the rubber molding and the groove is just where you put the screws to hold the molding on???
I hope I have some pics to show you what I mean.
If you did expect the window to somehow go past the outer rubber and slide into the groove to be air tight I'm not sure how you open the door you would be forcing the upper glass against the rubber and that would not be good. You could lower the window and then raise the glass to fit into the grrove but then same problem opening the door.
Could someone on a C-3 check how there molding is or how the original molding is and how it all works. Thanks BB78

Lifetime MemberIt sounds like a window glass alignment issue. I bought a Haynes Repair manual for Corvettes that has the procedure for proper alignment. The narrative isn't bad but the illustrations are not good at all. It's a lot of trial and error. There are a few bolts involved and you have to try various combinations. The job is not that difficult but requires a ton of patience.

That I understand but is the glass to go into the groove or is it not to jump the ridge and just go on the outside of the rubber. Why the groove if it.s not to go into it? How are you windows against the outer rubber or do they slide into the groove as the door is closed. It seems like to much resistance if they are to go into the groove but then that would seal all the air leaks? still confused??

You are right in thinking that the window cannot go into the groove. That is just to hide the screws. Take off the door panel and adjust the window so it just barely misses the outer lip. Then adjust so the glass pushes against the inner ridge, but not real hard.

My last 1 inch of glass travel is slow. I must check the glass is pushed out enough to go on the outside of the rubber and then that it is going up level, part of it might be the motor not being the strongest. Either get it repaired or buy a new one but must check the glass adjustment. I have a feeling it is not going up as high as it should and therefore it is getting inward and slides into the groove and then it will not rise any more. Need to get a manual on the correct glass adjustment screws and make sure the glass is attached where it should be and I know there are white buttons that push the glass outward near the top I think for this reason but I think they are in place.
One more question. In theory are there several bolts that can be loosened or removed and the whole glass holding frame removed up from the top of the door opening, or do I not want to go there, the reason I'm asking who know if its even attached the right way and from 32 years of in the track maybe it needs a good cleaning, also I am thinking of repairing the glass as it is awful scratched I believe from being installed improperly. Any comments or manuals on how to do this or anyone who did it and wished they did not!!!

You also need to check your window regulators. Both of mine were worn and caused the window to change location each time it went up! Put in the new regulators ( with stainless steel gears ) and now its right every time! Just a thought.

Ok Barry, until I get my assembly manual out could you expand on the regulators and the process of swapping them out(hints) and how to do it right? I lubed everything I can but the last 1 inch of up is so slow and no force, so time permitting I will try so see what is happening, or the motors are just tired. Yeah, you too! I'll tell you, I chickened out on the regulators and had them put in by a local shop, now out of business. Let me know how it turns out!
