Vette(s): 1974 coupe. 350 CID with Turbo 400 trans. Decal says 8.5:1 compression. Needs paint and AC replaced but don't plan on full restoration. Car runs strong. No big problems so far. 67,000 miles on Odometer, probably rolled over
I'm not sure how stock my 74 is but it does have the chrome (SS) strip.
It has been over a year since I started. I had to quit the project so
the car just sat in the garage. I was able to get started again in May 2012. As of July 27 2012 I have done the fiberglass repairs and applied Slick Sand High Build Primer.

Chevrolet cheaped out in 1975 and stopped adding the stainless strips at the rear of the t-top opening. My cousin as an all original '74 that he purchased new in 1974 and it has the strips. My '75 does not have it. I wish it did as it really looks nice. In fact, my cousin thought it was missing from mine but further research tought me that it was never there in the first place.

I found a parts manual for that era of C3 online and it shows how to install the strips. Looks like there were 3 notches cut into the fiberglass to access the holes in the back of the stainless trim and then a screw and special rectangular sort of washer to hold them underneath. Also, a rivet is required in the corner where the center T meets these strips. It all gets covered up inside by the interior trim.
The GM part numbers are: 12.810 for the 6 washers
8.908 for the 6 screws
8.967 for the 2 rivets
12.075 for the 2 stainless mouldings

I found the link on this forum under the Electrical posts sticky:
Open the 3rd file on the list. You have to scroll along way through the manual to find the t-top p[ictures.
