Ok on my 1982 vette which i bought off of my stepdad...the T-tops are red instead of the black ones that i have seen in any picture of this car...were they sold like that? or are they not the original tops?

I believe the glass tops, that may look black in a picture, were an option.
The solid color ones would have been painted to match the color of the body.

The glass tops were options, but could be had with the solid tops too. Meaning, you could order the car with both sets of tops. Most of the 80-82 cars had the glass tops, but not all...just a matter of who ordered the car, and their preference.
I'm guessing the car itself is red? Otherwise, they may not be the original tops...
