Hey George, welcome to the forum. Last year I went through the same process of what I really wanted in paint. My wife and I had stripped our 76 and I originally thought I wanted to go OEM silver as it came from the factory. That changed when my wife said she would rather see it in a red. I went to the guy that was going to actually shoot the car for me and he showed me some awesome ideas. I liked the Silver Metalic that I picked out so I new I wanted it as the base color. Then he brought out the WOW colors to shoot over it. There were some great choices. I went with a Chrysler Translucent Tricoat color called "Infurno Red Metalic". From the factory it came with a base coat red then the Translucent top coat then you shoot your clear over all of it. But, with the Silver Metalic base, dude, when the sun hits it....darn she's pretty. Hate it when the wife is right...LOL The tricoat paint comes in blue, green and RED. You can shoot any color of metalic for the base color you want and you get a different affect from the tricoat translucent top coat each time. The finished color after you get your clear on depends on how much sunlight is on it. It truely is a one of a kind paint job. Go for it !!!
That red does look good, in that picture it kinda looks candied but sharper looking, nice red shade, Crayola crayon red wath deep sparkle ! This could be your ticket. Now you gotta figure out what colors to go with, make them colors you really like alot and what looks loud & fast.

I once bought an '80 that was a silver car, and someone had painted from the top of the fenders down in black. When I heard about it, I didn't think it sounded nice, but I liked it. What I didn't like was that someone had also etched a small picture on the back glass of a guy smoking a joint!
I sold it to a guy who still autocross races it.

My brother-in-law painted his 69 candy apple red over a maroon metal flake - he laid down LACE befoe applying the cany apple - So instead of "ghost flames " - he had this slightly visible lace pattern - lkked great - but candy apple faded quickly MOTION paint schemes are real nice
