No you can't get the inside trim off without opening the door. Not anyway I could find.

I got the door unlocked by removing the arm rest and the rod is right there.

Anyway Thanks to all and I suppose I'll rebuild the tach myself.

Thanks Again

good thing the rod was still attached . it could have broken off. so that means your lock mechanism needs some wd40 sprayed down into it. you can do it with the red straw from the outside down from the top with the window up. the keylock mechanism is right where the key goes in so you can hit the back of it form coming down you'll also hit the rod linkage there too.of course spary some in the key hole too. thanks for the update|cheers|

Yes it got it's share of wd-40 and works fine now. Still need to find pull knobs for the inside to lock and un lock. |wavey|

We had the same problem I found some plastic chrome ones at NAPA that fit in.both were missing on Colleen's 78. It's locks weren't working at all when we got it and a lot of wd 40 and working the levers back and forth got themm finally working with the key first. then eventually from the inside pulls. I had to unhook the automatic lock since it was inhibiting the movement on the passenger side. My first door work also!
