Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

the interlock valve that is under the grille by the wiper door it has three hoses coming from it through the firwall into engine compartment, looks like two go to something, maybe the vacuum relay valve but the third just comes from the firewall about four inches and stops does not look to be anything around there to attach it to.  Question, what exactly does this valve do, and where or what is the thrid hose, this is getting really fursutrating.  please help me

Larry

If you go HERE, you can get a diagram of the vac. lines. My system doesn't seem to want to work w/DrRebuild's "applet veiwer". but your's might work better. Just an idea.

I think what you're describing sounds like the "limit switch" for the wiper door. It's supposed to keep the wipers from moving until the door is open, and keep the door open until the wipers are "parked" Adams' Apple38582.7880439815

Hi, The third hose is just a bleed off, the limit swith prevents the wiper cowl from closing on the wipers until there parked.

I must correct myself, thats referred to as the windshield wiper door vacuum controll valve. The wiper swich is on the firewall that when the cowl opens it pushes a button on this switch that completes the electrical circut. When you turn on your wipers that sends an electrical signal to your P/E (electrical, pneumatic) solenoid. Lower right dash. That solenoid opens sending vacuum to control valve that diverts it to the cowl actuator which should open making the electrical circut. When the wipers are turned off, the solenoid closes the electrical circut opens putting the wipers to park. When the wiper arm depresses the control vavle vacuum bleeds off thru the third hose allowing the cowl to close. Sounds like a vacuum problem. Does your headlamp over ride work?

Thank you Mr. Mako and other for your advise and help in understanding this system (not that I have mind you).  I thought to myself, this is crap I gave the chevy dealer here a chunk of change to fix the wiper system back in june, so I called them you, took the vette back to them and they found that the diahgram was bad, either when they installed it or the screwed it up installing it.  got the vette back yesterday and everything woerks better than it ever has and no more money exchange hands, a small win for the non mechanically inclined....
