Hey there Vette Fans!

I just picked up a used 78 rear spoiler that I am planning to mount on the car. The curved part around the gas tank filler door is curled up. Is there any known fix for something like this on urethane?

Heat? Abything else? Or is this a lost cause? Any thoughts, help or experience with this is appreciated.

Also, can anyone with a 78 or 79 confirm the measurment from the taillight holes to the rear bottom edge of the spoiler where it meets the bumper? Holes need to be drilled and I want to make sure I'm close...

Paul

you could try some gentle coaxing with a heat gun, but be careful!

have you tried the assembly manual for the positioning of the spoiler?

if not, i could check for you monday nite when i go to the garage where i keep my vette. ive got the factory spoiler installed on the 79

Okay a measurment from my Pace Car with factory spoiler is 1 1/2" from the bottom of the spoiler to top of the taillight hole (center lights with backup) the outter lights are about a 1/8" shorter.

Thanks guys! I think I am on the money!! Does the cotout for the fuel door come almost to the edge of the hole in the body?

yes- its fairly close in towards the fuel door. youll see a little bit of the curve of top of the backside bumper cover (if you can understand what im trying to say here) when looking at the rear of the spoiler

OK guys, 1 more question. Are there any kind of gaskets, etc that go between the spoiler and the car? Also, is it just washers and nuts on the studs from underneath?

Thanks again!!

Paul
