Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
I need some help, no laughing.  I am bidding on a vinyl hard top on ebay, been watching for a while now at different tops.  Question is from some of the people in the know, what price is fair, what is to much, I really need some feedback on what some of you vette heads would or would not pay for a vinyl hard top. thanks for the words of wisdom.

Standard painted hard tops seem to go for between $500-$1500 from what I've seen, depending on condition. Vinyl covered hardtops are more difficult to come by due to far lower production totals. Last summer at Corvettes at Carlisle, I nearly bought a vinyl covered hardtop in great shape for $800. I've been kicking myself ever since, but I had no way of transporting it and decided I wouldn't actually use it much, if at all, plus the problem of storing it properly.

Just to add to the price, I recently handled the purchase of a C4 hardtop for a friend in Florida. Top was in Illinois near me. Properly crated for shipping, it cost $320 to ship plus about $60 for crate materials(plus my time and gas). And the shipping price was a bargain compared to some other shipping quotes.    Hope it's nearby to you so ya can pick it up!  Mike
