I was talking to a Corvette shop this week about getting the weatherstripping replaced on my car and he said I should expect to pay around $1200 for the complete body kit ...just the weatherstrip...no labor. I know I can order an OEM style latex reproduction weatherstrip kit from ZIP's for $440. What am I missing here? Does anyone have any experience with the OEM style latex reproduction weatherstrip kits?

They are looking for a sucker, that's what this is about. With a little patience, this is a do-it-yourself job. I am sure you can find the procedure posted on this site in the archives. I got my kit from Ecklers and it worked out fine. Best of luck.

Mid America has a weather strip kit for your year for$369.99. If it was me I take my time and do it myself and save the$$$.
Alot of guys have done this themselves and weatherstrip kits are available through all the suppliers. Search the forums for "weatherstripping" and some of the Vette magazines to find do it yourself info.

I was going to get him to fix my power windows and adjust them...figured the weatherstripping need to be replaced first since it was in bad shape and coming loose. Not going to pay him that kinda money...if he wanted that much for the weatherstripping no telling what he would charge for labor. I've found alot of info on how to install the stuff...guess I will be trying it out.
Thanks for the advice.
YOU SHOULDN`T HAVE ANY PROBLEM, TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE YOUR SURFACE IS REAL CLEAN BEFORE YOU APPLY THE ADHESIVE, GOOD LUCK.

I agree. Might be time to look for another mechanic.

Got mine from Ecklers and did it myself. It was one of the easier task as things go and the fit up was very good. It was a while ago but I think it was $300-$400 for the complete set.
Good luck!!
