Where do you find those "shim" numbers?
I would be curious to look for them. Thanks
Also, I took pictures of my frame numbers and hope to post them.

The "shim" marks will only be straight lines, up & down, indicating how many shims would be needed for that mount. 1 line would mean to install one shim, two lines, two shims, etc. These would be next to the mount on the frame. The ones on my '74 were green, but they could also be white. The factory workers used common grease pencils, or lumber markers.

Hey Joel, I was cleaning my frame today and found this number stamped on the frame 19S412314. What do the first 3 mean? There are no other marks I have found yet. I would like to get a correct stencil not sure how to figure this out.

The stamped number on the frame is the VIN derivative. You most likely found this on the drivers side rear, behind the wheel area, but it is also stamped in another place on the frame that cannot be seen with the body on.
1= Chevy
9= year
S= St. Louis
4= nothing...check digit
12314= sequential VIN #
This is the same # you should see on the engine stamp pad.
The stamped # will have no bearing on the stencil #, other than to get the right date. The stenciled # is the frame part #, and the date it was assembled, which would be before the assy. date of the rest of the car.
