imagine they do work.guess i am old school as i still pack the bearings
the old way.

I've got one... Not so sure as to how well they work though. Installed it the way the insturction and the shop manual said and pumped in the recomended amount of grease, but it seemed more grease came out the sides then went into the bearings. The other thing is, it only dose the inside bearing

That's what I was gonna say...they are only intended to do the inner bearings. They get nothing to the outside bearings. There are hubs that can be greased, tho. Both the axle flange hub, and the wheel hub. They just take the hubs, drill and tap them, and install a grease zerk in them. Don't know if it's really worth the effort or not.
My opinion is, if the bearings are dry to the point that they may need grease...greasing them then probably won't do much good. Rear bearings will last a long time if properly assembled, with the proper grease, to start with.

I bought one when I did my rear bearings,it said to put in 2 tablespoons of grease in each side,I called there hotline to find out how many pumps on a standard gun would that be,they didn't have any idea.I think somebody finally said 4 pumps,if you put in to much you might blow out the seal .like Joel said it only does the inside bearing, seems to me that some might get up to the front one though, just a guess.the guy that did the press work on my bearings greased them up good when he pressed them up,I just figured a little more couldn't hurt.

Thank's for the info guys. Was just curious as to weather I should go to all the trouble. Not much play in wheel movement at this time since the car only has 22000 miles on it. Was concerned about 27 yr. old grease.

I pack them the old way, put a glob on your hand an slice it up by laying the bearing in small chucks into th bearing. Old school stuff but works.
