I am running 285 40 17 on a 10 rim and I am going to go to a 50. What inch fender flares should I get? The Tire sticks out a inch now. Just getting them for the rear

Vette(s): 1968 coupe bought in 1999, 2nd owner, 427 custom built, 4 speed (M20), 3:36 posi rear end, Recaro seats, Intro wheels, Nitto tires, Flowmasters, etc. Painted nite race metallic blue.
I run 275 40 18 on 18 inch Intro wheels 10 inch rims in the rear. My tires do not stick out at all. Therefore, I never needed fender flares. When you mentioned going to 50 what size tire are you going to?

I had the wheels manufactured by Intro Wheels for the car with the proper offset. I run 245 40 18 in the front. Again no issues. The wheels in front are an inch less. Check www.introwheels.com. If you browse thru the chevy pictures you may see my blue '68 coupe.

I'm also interested in a Fender Flare for just the Rear's. There was a Guy who made  small Flares of an inch or Two Here in the NW about 15 Years ago but I havn't seen or Herd of Him since. He Used the Same Ground Effects that You and I have and they Looked Perfect. At the Time I had Fresh Paint and wasn't interested in messing any more up. But now with the New zo6 from the Factory with Flares and being in the same boat as You I just want a Bit more out Back. I have Consider'd just  Cutting the Fender and Rolling it out an Inch or More and Glassing it Back togeather.  The Old L-88 Flares are just to Much for the Late Sharks in my opion.  The Greenwood Widebody Kit was Originaly Sold by them and then made by Ecklers. I beleive ACI might of been in there to. Correct me if I'm wrong its been a wile. A body Shop I used to deal with when my car was New installed a Bunch of them. Richard......

I thought maybe this would help. ACI CORVETTE I love the ACI products. Very fine workmanship. If you call them ask for John.

This is the link referenced in the above post for the wheels..... INTRO WHEELS

Gale Banks 80:  Sermersheim's Corvette in Evansville, IN probably has the best fiberglass. Phone is 812-424-4701. I believe the large flair for the rear goes for $450 per pair. The front flair goes for $400 per pair but I believe they stop on the front with the 79's. The rears go thru the 82's.

frstvette: Are you asking the cost of the wheels? I bought a package that included the wheels and tires so I can not tell you exactly. But my guess is about 500 per wheel alone. I bought them in 2005.
