My 75 is a basket case. All the parts are in baskets and boxes. Before I got it the doors were off, and the guy put them on so I could tow it home.

They are WAY out of aline. They at least are equal. Moving the adjustment all the way, the rear of both doors are still over an inch low at the back..

Before I get carried away looking for other problems, are all the door hinges the same? Perhaps I have the wrong ones. The ones on my car are different colors, so I know they are not original. I don't have the books for body parts listings.

They should all be the same Ken. In the book I was reading in big letters it said..do not allow the door to hang on one hinge or permanent damage will occur.
The guy who put them on might have done this knocking them all out of wack. Just a thought

Try swapping the hinges. In his haste to get you "on the road" the seller may have put the uppers on the bottom . . .

I believe that only the upper hinge has a spring.

PS - If you offer a penny for my thoughts and I give you my two-cents worth, do I owe you change?? |headscratch| |laugh|

The hinges are NOT interchangable. I'll try to describe the differences. The upper hinge half that attaches to the body of course has the S spring. If the spring is missing, look for the hole for the end of the spring, topside. There is more of a notch instead of a hole on the bottom side. The half that attaches to the door will have the rollers that engage the spring on the bottom side. The lower hinge half that attaches to the body will have a notch in the top side to clear the door edge when fully open, No notch on the bottom side. The half that attaches to the door will basically look like an opposite of the upper piece. Angled oppositely inside the door. Long end of angle at the bottom. Hope this helps. Mike

When I do lift both doors, they fit in the body well, so the body should be okay.

I know the right side has the spring at the top. The left side has no spring. I haven't looked closely yet. It's dark out now. And I work all day tomorrow. So I'll check it out Monday.

This info helps. Thanks to all. I'll let you know.

Also keep in mind that when a car is on jack stands, the doors will not fit correctly.
Pins and bushings can also be a problem, a worn bushing, or a missing bushing can cause the same sag. If you can pick the door up, you have a worn or missing piece.

Actually, the pins aren't worn. Thats one of the first things I checked for. It takes some UPH to lift them enough to close. Not easy. This is how they were when I got the car. They not easy to open either. The car is sitting on the ground, not on jacks. Very, very close to level. But that is a good point.
