Working on rebuilding my windows and the rear channel looks to me to be bent. Is this correct or should the mounting flang be flush with the channel. Cannot find a good picture anywhere to compare this to. This is off a 82 model.

Passenger side looks bent even more.

From what I've seen in catalogs that show the window channel related parts, those are definitely broken. Unfortunately they apparently don't break enough for anybody to carry them. Didn't find any window channels in any of the catalogs I have. Good luck finding them!
Sorry there isn't pics of the channels in there, but maybe someone can get a decent pic from another source, like the assembly manual.

While I have an 82, I cannot picture exactly what this is
suppose to do (i.e. how it works). It looks like the inside slides in a
channel. If that is the case I have a thought. If I wanted to minimize
the friction between parts and they would have wanted to do that. I would make it like your picture shows.
That way it only rubs on a small area and not the complete slide.
Now days they put in plastic washers or sliders back then they would have
just bent the metal.
Again I do not know how this is suppose to work
but if it is suppose to slide and it slides easy I would not be worried about
it.

Joel,
Notice how the bracket with the 2 mounting bolts looks like it is bent outwards away from the window channel where it is mounted in the center. To me and from what I have seen in a few pictures, the channel and mounting bracket should be flush to each other. Jope this makes sense.

Otay..now I see what yer talkin aboot....tho it doesn't really seem too bad. If you notice, the channel is only spot welded to the bracket right in the center. Perhaps someone tried to "adjust" the window farther than the slots on the brackets would allow...or perhaps someone tried really hard to get the glass out the wrong way. Hard to say how it happened....
You could take the channels out, and either put them in a press to flatten them out, or maybe a vise....or just the old fashioned way, with a persuasion tool.

Is/was there a problem with the window adjustment?

Joel,
Yes, I was having trouble adjusting the window. Took the channel out and flattened it out more and this seemed to help with the adjustment process some. Have it fairly close now but need to tweak it some.
Thanks for all the help.

Kewl! Notice in the pic Bob posted, the channel bracket/brace is similarly "bent"....that's kinda why I wasn't seeing a major problem with yours.....I think most of them look like that at some point...
Good luck with the window adjustments....I HATE doin that job....what a pita....
