I just got a new top. and the side windows need "adjusted" so they close/fit properly. I have never taken the door pannel off or attempted to adjust the windows, what do I need to konw/do? I have a service manual and build book. How big a job is this????
Thanks,

my understanding is that its a finicky job, requires a lot of patience and trial and error but not exceptionally hard to do. Do it in the order recommended by the manual(Haynes Chiltons Etc). The order is important because I've been told that doing it out of order will undo previous changes or somesuch. Checking to ensure that the door itself is aligned properly is a good thing at this point since for a while my door was so far off I couldn't've adjusted the window far enough to get a good seal. Be patient and follow the manual and you should be fine.

I have played with the window adjustments on all of my cars
since done had all the windows close "just" right..and honestly they still do not BUT they come darn close..

The job itself is not hard..but can become frustrating when
you get near "perfect"... Just takes time ..

Scott may have made a good point about checking the order of adjustment..I have never developed that ability hopwever AND IT MAY HAVE HELPED A LITTLE....

All I can do is agree with what is already said. Follow the directions, One adjustment at a time. Not difficult, just picky.

One more thing. After adjustments, close the door SLOWLY. If it's out of whack, you don't want to let the door fly, and hit the glass on the body.

Now you guys are making me wonder about mine! If I adjust the windows to the hardtop, will they also fit the soft top? Or vica-versa? Hard top first, then live with the soft top?
A quandary here I suppose! |headscratch|

By bulld book, I assume you are referring to the AIM manual? There is a step by step procedure in there on how to adjust the windows (at least in my 75 AIM there is). |cheers|

Dave, the correct procedure is to adjust the windows to the hard top, then adjust the soft top to the windows.
