[QUOTE=Sarge81]Oh the joys of window adjustments.

After my car was painted we replaced all the weatherstripping which is definitely not as pliable as the OEM stuff was. Then we set the window glass back in the doors and set the windows to the original settings we had marked before disassembly.
Well it didn't work. We either had binding issues or it would hit the pillar. After numerous trial and error attempts, it is finally close to being perfect. Even with a new power window motor installed on the passenger side it lacks closing completely by about a 1/16". But if the door is open it will go up that little bit. I then have to assist the top portion of the glass inward as I close the door so it won't stick out on the outside of the weatherstripping. I think if the weatherstripping was soft like the OEM was, window adjustment would be much easier.
Good luck to all with their window adjustment!
Man that's exactly what I went thru. To this day the drivers window does not seal at the top. I don't get rain in there, but the wind noise is a pain. I think the new side pipes will overcome that problem.

Jim was kind enough to try to send me the window adjustment text but it was timing out on him. Would someone PM me for my email address and then send me the file.

Guys (and Gals),
I'm in Kuwait and though I can see the forum and respond to posts, I can't do large attachments on e-mail. So far I have requests from "jbs82vette" and "joanne" for copies of the document I sent to some of you.
If those that I sent it to would be so kind as to step up and help out, I'm sure they would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks and I'm jealous of ya'll cruising around back there !

Just replaced both side windows on my 77. I used a little silicone grease on weather stripping, loosen bolts and raise window slowly until it goes into grooves of w/s. Snug bolts, adjust window felts, that will get you close. Get out of car, do not slam door but check alienment of glass and w/s. Fine adjustment will be required. Hope this helps.

Again, I would love to be able to send you this file but right now, I cannot. It will be March or April until I can send it. Bandwidth at my apartment down town in Kuwait City is minimal at best, non existent at worst and that happens, ALOT.
The file itself is about 3 MB.
I would greatly appreciate it if a few of the folks I sent it to could step up and help out in my absence. Please volunteer ! I have requests from the following:

The silicone lubricant is an important bit of advice. If the motor can't push past sticky rubber, it just stops.
We keep a reference area in our store for our customers to browse. I don't have a good window adjusting guide. If someone is forwarding the copies of JimG's article could they please include me?
Thanks

That's a great idea - I'm going to try that on mine.
