On the convertible top on my '69 the vinyl rear window has some residue left from a sticker. Does anyone know a good cleaner to get this residue off? Regular glass cleaner does no good other than spread it. I know WD-40 will get such residue off glass, but I hesitate to use it on vinyl.

Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

You might want to try one of the semi-organic citrus cleaners. They are very good at disolving adhesives and are compatable with vinyls and plalstics.

I would go with cigarette lighter fluid

Lighter fluid will work, but may damage the plastic.  I don't currently own a 'Vette 'vert, but have owned many other 'verts and to clean the plastic window, I found Meguiar's PlastX Clear plastic Cleaner and Polish to work very well.

Have you tried a razor blade, or sandpaper?

WD40 with a paper towel ought to do it, without damaging the vinyl window.

If all else fails, put a CV3R sticker over it!

Scott (Ranger3)...

Thanks for the tip. I had some orange-impregnated cleaner sheets I won as a door prize last year and tried it...it worked great for cleaning off the glue reside from the vinyl window. I can definitely recommend it to anyone else with a similar problem.

It's been awhile since you posted your question and I'm just now going through some of them.  BUT, a product that I use in such a situation is called un-du.  There website is un-du.com.  I originally acquired this stuff from QVC.  When I first used it I wanted to buy more of it right away.  I later found that a local Walmart also carried it.  This stuff works great, it really does.
