The regulator gear on my (1982) right side power window is stripped out, I ordered the tooth replacement kit from Echlers. Any tips from any one that has used this kit?? I have all the manuals including the AIM.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sorry Phil, Don't know how long the kit's been around, but I'm just grateful that I haven't had the pleasure, or the need. Hopefully some one who has will notice this thread before it's gone, if not, would you be so kind as to post your experience. Good luck

I put the repair teeth on the pass side of my 79. Take your time, be careful with the door glass and replace those old rollers and sliders while you're at it. Also, clean up all of the tracks really well and apply fresh white grease.
C3s are also common for the window motor support bracket breaking free from the inner door. They sell a replacement that bolts in place for about $15. Will cure a lot of rattling and make the whole operation a lot more stable.
Fire back if you have any questions and make sure you have a manual handy as you will most definitely be adjusting the window once you have it all back together. That's an art in itself!!
Good luck

Thanks Paul, I will hunt you down if I have any questions. I did get the rebuilt kit with the rollers and sliders, I thought about that motor bracket replacement but didn't get it. I think I will go ahead and order it and find a half way good priced replacement motor - Might as well get it all done - While I'm There....
Jimmy, I will post my results with pics when I'm done.
Thanks guys!

Trick - don't try to remove the studs that the rollers and sliders are on. If they are in decent shape, you can pop the old wheels off on the new ones on. The studs are staked in and a pain in the %$#@ to get out....

Two additional thoughts. One: The regulator has a spring in it. Be sure to put a bolt in it before you remove the motor. If it lets go, it can really skin up your knuckles. It can be rewound on the bench if necessary. And second, I would not replace the original motor. they were high quality, and if you look for a cheap replacement, it might not be as good.
