Put the new regulator in today. What an experience! It took a while and a few cigarettes, but its in, and it works! And I have the satisfaction of having done it myself. |bouncy|

Good job! The guys at Bairs are top notch.

BTW, did you figure out the pass side?

Not yet, but after dealing with the new regulator on the driver's side, I've got a pretty good idea where to look first. I think that the sash bolts on the guide channel may be a little loose. They allow for a little fore and aft motion of the window glass. When I'm feeling a little masochistic I'll tackle them. Right now I'm just gonna enjoy the fact that I can finally lock up the Vette without having to worry that somebody will figure out that a little downforce on the driver's window will give them access to my baby. |biggrin|

A big thanks to Theo for all the advice he gave me earlier in this thread. Especially the part about backing off and reapproaching it after a smoke. Very helpful! |cheers|

No worries, glad you got it sorted out.
It's satisfying to have a go at doing it yourself, specially a job like that, where it looks like an impossible task to begin with.
Not all jobs are quite so rewarding -
I've got a timing cover oil leak to try and fix today, as its pi$$ing out all over the place. This could be fun |cussing|
Stocked up on the necessary beer last night though, so things could be worse!

I got it! The nut on the front side of the passenger window had backed off and was laying in the bottom of the door. It was allowing the window to pivot the bolt and such in the guide bushing. Put the nut back on and tightened it up, bingo! No more sliding window. Now I get to install weatherstripping. Who has the best stuff?

good find and job! the windows on my wifes 78 were not moving when she got it and a lot of wd 40 and a new motor on the passenger got them moving agian. but the hardest thing was trying to get the connecting part on the door lock staff on the drivers side to snap into place. it takes two hands but I could only fit one in the door .It took 2 beer breaks and a lot of patience and after 2 hours i got it connected and working. a book we bought at Midatlantic corvettes that shows pictures of all the car's parts helped me to show me where the connection should be since it is hard to see in the doors too.and by the way I'm not very mechanicl in talent! |cheers|
