My windshiels is the original and does not have any chips in it, however it does have a lot of scratches. Does anyone know a good way to polish or fix those minor scratches? It is really irritating when driving into the sun.

The Eastwood Company has a glass polishing kit and one for deep scratch removal. Depending on whether you can actually feel the scratches with your nail, you can figure which is ore suitable:

I tried the polish and was not impressed. It got rid of the haze but not any scratches or nicks. I wound up getting a new windshield, it was cheap and they came and did it at my house. Correct tint and everything. It was like getting new glasses!

If you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, forgetabouit.Ive tried everything out there, even some stuff I had to order from a chemical house(not for sale to the public stuuf)Nothing worked but a new glass.
Ecklers also sells a kit. I have not used it but a buddy of mine that
had a lot of pitting in his windshield used it . He said it made
a big difference when driving into the sunlight.

My insurance wont cover this, and in NC I do not have to pass an inspection,'cause my car is an antique. Ha Ha, over 35 years old!
Anyway, I will check out the polish and let youall know what I think. Otherwise, it's new glass.

A good cleaner is the cream stuff used for cleaning glass-top stoves. Works great to get the gunk off. After that give the glass a Rain-X treatment.
My windsheild was badly pitted. But fortunately for me, we had this dummy in our shop beating on a press fit Ford wheel bearing. Yup, it blew apart, and one of the pieces cracked my windshield. Needless to say he got he bill. $165 our cost. What a difference in looking out the new one compared to the old.
Question on 'hers' '92 windsheild. No scratches but has a lot of water spots, dirt build up besides it's hard to see both inside and outside. Will these come out if use polish? Thanks.
Mike, try a mixture of vinegar and water. Not the female stuff.
Dampen a cloth and wipe down the windshield. Be careful not to get any on the interior pieces or paint. It may discolor them.

Or I have had luck with ammonia and water cleaning the windows on the house. Works better than Windex. That rain leaves hard deposits on the glass.
