There's probably nothing sweeter than being able to say "I'm the original owner". But in store for us 3rd or 4th owners, is endless hours of detective work and dead ends. For instance, can anybody describe a distinguishing feature or marking that would help me determine if the windshield on my 72 is factory? There are tell-tale signs that make me believe otherwise. To me it looks generic. Really appreciate it, thank you.

Thanks,Vin...tell you why I think that. There's no Astro Ventilation sticker on the pass. side window like there is on the driver's, either.

JR:
Your windshield should b LOF Safety Flo-Lite, should be a "ASI" script on the upper passenger's side of the windshield. It is screened in white between the lamination of the glass. It also should be dated within 12 months before assembly date.
You are right, both side windows should have astro ventilation script on them. It is also LOF Brand, Safety Flo-Lite, tinted. It is also date coded.
Month Codes: N- Jan, X- Feb, L- Mar, G- April, J-May, I-June, U-July,T- Aug, A-Sept, Y-October, C-Nov, V- Dec
Year Codes: A-1966,1979,Z-1967,1980, X-1968-1981, V-1969,1982, T-1970,1983, N-1971,1984, Y-1972,U-1973,L-1974,I-1975,C-1976,G-1977,J-1978
Hope this helps, let me know how you make out.
Also, side window glass thickness on reproductions is alot of times thinner than original.

Thanks, Tom, that's some serious research, very helpful.
Naw, I'm afraid it's bogus....reads Guardian Safety Float with some other markings I can't make out (maybe my glasses). Side window seems legit but no Astro script.
More unanswered questions. Thanks again!!!

JR - "Astro Ventilation" replacement glass with correct dates and logo is available from Corvette Central, Eckler's and others.
Door Glass = $290 (CC) and $400 (Eckler's)
Windshield = $419 (CC) and $629 (Eckler's)
Anybody know what justifies the pricing disparity? Is the glass from Eckler's thicker?? better?? "more" correct?? What gives?
John
PS - Corvette America's pricing is $350 for door glass.

Thanks, John...might look into replacing the windshield and side. It's funny, that doesn't even seem expensive anymore.

That's one of the major symptoms/benefits of contracting "Corvette Fever" - the overpowering ability to rationalize and justify while denying the reality that "it's a used car."

The only known cure is death. The Corvette Journal of Medicine states "field research has clearly demostrated that bankruptcy (a folk medicine previously thought to be a general curative) only causes a temporary decrease in the severity of symptoms. While research continues into the causes of Corvette Fever, to date there is no known survivable cure. In all cases, patients either die from it or die with it."

So when you give, give generously to your restoration parts supplier. Because a Vette is a terrible thing to waste.

Apparently I am a SICK SICK man. I have the fever!
Here is the odd part. Studies show that actually getting a Corvette only increases the symptoms!
And there is some kind of interaction between fiberglass and humans. Similar to magnets and steel. This has yet to be explained but has been proven in test subjects (me)
