Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

i have been fighting mine ever since i bought the vette, when i first bought it the door would open and close every time i started the vette. then it quit all to gether, i started paying people to fix it and replace parts and now i have a bunch of new parts and a wiper door that opens when i start the engine, been it was a standard option for the 70 model.

good luck.

[/QUOTE] It's waving "goodby" to ya'!    Couldn't resist, sorry!

It is a vacuum problem, Chips' is right.  I have a diagram somewhere.  I'll look for it, scan it and post it......as soon as I find it.

Mick, I have a diagram. I believe it's connected right because when I drive down the road it goes back into place.

Is it possible to have low vacuum at idle that would leave the wiper door open but the headlight doors closed?

What???  Your headlight doors won't open??  I thought your wiper door just opened when you started the car.  Your engine is running all the vacuum stuff.  Maybe you have a kink in one of your vacuum hoses or one that is deteriorating.

Headlight doors work fine, the wiper door opens at low RPM and when you shut the car off.

No bad hoses as everything is new

My choice would be that you have a faulty vacuum solenoid behind the tacho.  It may have a slight vacuum sealing problem that is allowing vacuum to operate the door actuator when you are at max manifold vacuum. i.e. throttle closed.  Sorry, but it's a PITA to change out as well.

Mine did this when I got it. There is a little vacume check valve along the fire wall near the master cylinder it has one hose in and two out. I took it out sprayed it with WD-40 and it's been working right. Not positive that's what fixed it, could have been loose hose but dorsn't cost much to try.    Ray
