Have a 76 vette and now also have a 1970 vette. The wiper door seems to open as soon as you shut the engine off. Otherwise all seems to work correct. Which device is the culprit.

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
On the right hand side, under the door is a PARK switch. It is vacuum operated and decides what position the wipers go in when the switch on the dash is shut off and vacuum is interrupted. Check for leaks as well.

Could be the vacuum relay behind the right front wheelwell.

Vette(s): 1972 Steel Cities Gray T Top. Original Owner, Original Paint and Interior. The running gear has been rebuilt. only 250,000 miles on the clock..
Also the "Check Valve" near the distributor could be defective.

Vette(s): 1970 roadster; recently restored; crystal red metallic, saddle interior and soft top; rebuilt 350ci - originally 300hp, now 430hp; 4sp muncie, 3.70 posi.
Hate to jump on someone else's post, but...... I have just the opposite problem. When I start the engine the wiper door opens. Mine is a '70 and I've replaced most of the vacuum components and hoses, but not the actuator. I've currently just disconnected the two hoses and connected them together. If it rains around here (in the high desert) I guess Ill have to reconnect them to the actuator! Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
