I have the correct size 16" wiper blades on my 68 however they scrape across the chrome molding alongside of the windshield near the top by about an inch or so while in operation. Is there a way to shorten the main wiper connection below the wiper door. Would this work?? or just try and find a shorter wiper blade.???

Some aftermarket wiper blades are not equal length from the center to the end. Some are. If yours are off set take them off and put the longer end down, instead of up.
I'm not sure in the 68. But look at all the linkage connections. You may find a couple of nuts in slide holes. If so, loosen the nuts and you can change the travel position of the wipers. This could be on the linkage, or right at the wiper motor.
MY '72 TAKES 15" BLADES. ARE YOU SURE YOUR BLADES AREN'T TOO LONG? THE BOOK AT THE PARTS STORE WHEN I BOUGHT MINE SHOWED 68-82 AS HAVING THE SAME BLADE. WORTH CHECKING INTO.

It is a sad situation when they threw away the mold on the 1968 wipers arms. Only the 1968 and early 1969 will interchange. The wiper blades are correct at 16". I think I will try and shorten the control arm and see if that helps. Thanks for all of your advise.

When I got my '69 five years ago, I replaced the blades and did some repair work on the washer tubes. I remember doing something to make an adjustment so that the blades would not hit the trim but I'll be darned if I can remember exactly what it was!
It seems to me that there was an adjusting screw or something, maybe along the side of the wiper arm, that moves the blade position?
How about removing the arm from the post and rotating it back a couple of teeth so it does not move as far in that direction?
If I can find it, I'll get back to you! Geeez! I'm loosing it!
