Terry,
I was wondering if you have any thoughts on the use of a Bra on your beast? I remember you had it on from Seattle to PF. Has it done as expected .. do you still use it? Reason I ask... I have had a couple good dings on my front, and I was considering getting one.. anyone else can chime in if they like. My biggest concern is it might avctually chafe the paint.

It will chafe the paint...at least to a degree. Debris can also get caught under it and scratch the paint.
I have one on my daily driver and overall, it has protected against chips in over 105k miles of driving. When I take it off to wash the car and clean the bra, you can see a slight line where it rubbed against the paint. It will mostly polish out, but not completely. For my use, I think it's been a good trade off. I'd rather polish it out occasionally rather than pay for new paint.
I don't have a bra for either Corvette...they each have a few stone chips already and I drive them in good weather and don't push them even then. I've considered buying a bra for each but decided it likely wasn't worth the effort for the kind of use they get. Then again...one big stone hitting the front can make me wish I had bought one. In a collision, it won't matter.
You have to decide if the trade off of stone chips vs. some slight scuffing of the paint finish is worth it to you.Gunslinger 2006-12-10 17:39:04

I put one on the '74 for a road trip to the NCM once...ONCE.
It did chafe the heck out of the paint across the front. The wind flapping it around will do that. If there is enough paint/clear on the car, it will buff out.
Terry actually put some 3M plastic sheeting under his bra before making the trip to PF. I think he said he had no wounds to report upon returning to Moose-Land...

I like how you think!
Ray, as you will note, I first used the 3m clear tape then put the bra on over the expensive paint and as Joel said it was a wonderful thing, I pulled the 3m clear off and she is as new. I now will do the same for my 1996 when I go the Reno, no chips on my front ends.. From Terry in Moose land

I don't know, the wonder bra is a wonderous thing - except maybe a little false advertising.....

I put a GM bra on the C5 cause I hate cleanin the bugs & crap off of the white paint every 50 miles. It does a great job. This is bra number 4 for me. I have put one on each white vehicle owned previously. They do what they are supposed to but like most things they need to be maintained too.
They make a speed lingerie bra that you are supposed to be able to pull off and hand wash that is supposed to be pretty good. I liked the concept except when I quesioned the rep about what happens when you get tar on it. He couldn't answer how to remove it. I refrained from buying it. They do carry a lifetime warrenty. I just was afraid my lifetime would be spent with a big glob of black tar or a nice white spot on it.

I have a 78 S.A. car. I have the type of bra which covers the front end, up to and including the lights. It does protect the finish but detracts from the style. Also it's a small chore to remove/put on at shows. Does anyone know of a "mini bra" for the sharks? Something that would protect but not detract from the look of the car?
