I'm having windsheild issues - mainly with the wipers. Until I resolve that, I put on some Rain-X, which - I have to say - really helped me in an emergency (raining and broken wiper).

When I pulled over after the wiper broke to put on the Rain-X, I could feel what seems like "sand" on the windshield - like tiny little "bumps".

I'm not sure what it is - perhaps sap from a tree?? (I keep it covered and parked inside now!).

My question is - how do I get that off? I've tried glass cleaner but doesn't seem to help.

I think I need something stronger, but I don't want to damage the glass.

Suggestions??

Hello eric !
you could take some steel wool and some window cleaner I have done it and it work, if you do it gently, also you could try a clay bar.

What is this "clay bar" and where does one get it?

I have used a clay bar on my windshield. When I drive into the West with the sun setting, I have like sand size specs all over. The clay bar helped but did not remove these. I also tried Bon Ami which also helped but didn't cure. Still looking....

I once had to use a razor blade on a windshield to remove paint overspray. The windshield was all sandpapery and this was the only solution...took a while but really did the trick.

The razor blade works good. You might use some soapy water with the razor blade, as it helps to prevent any possible scratches that you might get from the razor blade. Make sure its a new blade also. They are cheap in the hardware stores. You can usally buy them 10 at a time and some places sell 100 in a box.

Prepsol---any bodyshop will have it will do the job Don't let it sit on the paint. Its not harsh but if it sits for about a day it will eat the paint.
