Anyone own the "California Duster"?

I do, on a recommendation of a C5 buddy.

The thing is great! After the car has been sitting in the garage a day or two, or if it had been outside for the day in a parking lot, all that dust/pollen crap sits on it.

I just whip out the California Duster, takes me 60 seconds to run it over the whole car, and it looks like it just got a bath!

Great invention...wish I'd thought of it!

I have one and they do work great! The amazing thing is that the dirtier the duster gets the better it works!!

I've heard that if you set them out in the sun for like a week on a clean brown bag every day, then wash it twice, it gets all the "wax" out of it and works especially well. Have you guys heard of doing that?

I have one too. It is nice to have when I pull my car out of my dusty garage for a quick drive around town. I saw my friend use it on one of his black cars and I liked it so went out and got one myself.

Darla,
I think you will riun it if you follow the proceedure you have in your post. You DEFINATLY WANT the wax to STAY in it. That is why it works so well.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I pulled my vette out of the back garage last night, and it was covered with dust and pollen. In 5 minutes it was clean as if it was just washed. Those things really work good..

I've got one too - for about 5 years now. Make sure you shake them out well you don't want particles of anything to grind into the paint. The wax in them is what makes the stuff stick. I haven't tried washing them because I'm not sure how to get the wax back into it afterwards. unless there's some way to steam it up into the pores of the duster?? ~Juliet

Don't do anything to them except shake them out. Definately do not wash them! As has been said, the longed you use them, the better they work. Use the old addage...if it ain't broke, don't fix it ( by washing or in any other way..cleaning ) !

I'm only telling you about what I've heard. But now, what I've seen. In thinking about this over the weekend, I asked Steve about it. Then we took his and another new duster and tried them on his ride. We found that washing them really has little affect in the performance. Under flourencent lights in his garage, the washed one leaves alot less of the wax stuff that's in them. The funny thing is that now his duster looks like fluffy dreadlocks. Just my 2 cents, everyone has a preference. |smile|
