Directly off the California Duster Web Site:
Because of a special permanently baked in paraffin treatment, The Original California Dusters are made to provide years of effective service without the need for cleaning. Simply shake them out before and after each use. The "dirtier" they get the better they work.
If you find it necessary to clean your Duster because it is too dirty or if the Duster stops lifting dust, it can be washed. You may hand wash your Duster in cold water with a mild detergent such as Woolite, then air dry. Do not use hot water to wash or hot air to dry, as heat or harsh detergent may remove the special paraffin treatment.

I've been using the California Car Duster for years. It's a great product--if used correctly--and that means leaving the wax in it.
Every couple of years I buy a new one (even though they say it "works better as it gets dirtier"). They're fairly inexpensive these days. I think I started out paying $25 or so--now you can get the Duster packaged with a California Water Blade (another good product) for $19.95 at Sam's Club.

I've used them ever since they came out. However, I found that on a black car they were leaving smudges (I assume from the paraffin in them). But, if you follow it up with one of the microfiber clothes from Meguires, that takes care of the problem.

I think it is amusing that this is one of the oldest threads on the entire site, yet it seems to keep alive!

I have not used it and don't have one. I'm feeling left out. Guess I'll have to try it.

Mine is almost completely black from about 10 years of use. Another great product they make is called the California Water Blade. It's a silicone based blade that pushes water off the paint after rinsing with no scratching all. Works better than a chamois.
