I don't mind the expense but I want the best bang for my buck.
When you pay $10,000 for a paint job on a 68 and want to protect the finish from dust, dings etc. even though it will be parked in the bedroom, no the wife won't let that happen, but in the garage.  and with all the many car covers out there in cyber land. Can someone give me some idea through there experience on the best one for the most paint protection and dust protection.
Many years ago I had one of the evolution grey colored covers and the car was parked outside and the wind beat the top up so bad that the top just became a large canvas of sandpaper and did a lot of damage to the hood and front fenders.
Do I need to go the fitted heavy ones or a light weight universal type. Do I need the four or five layer, or just a large flannel sheet.

Boy that's a good question. I've been using the
Wolf brand at $160 for many years but I'm not sure why. They fall apart after 3 yrs in the Calif. sun. Now I have  the cars under a carport and a cheap cover over the more expensive ones to protect the cover Confused. So I don't know the answer, but I'd sure like to hear of a cover I could afford that would actually work and last.

I have an Evolution on the '74 that I bought in 1998, and it is still in great shape, and keeps the car safe. Granted, it RARELY ever sits outside with the cover on it.
I've been thu 4 other covers on the '85...it sits outside permanently. They seem to last about a year & 1/2-2 years down here. The one that's on it now is nothing but terlet paper now. It was an Evolution that I have bought originally for Mama's Camaro way back when. I'm in the market for a new one for it too. I'm thinking I may get one at the Gathering at Mid Am, and have them ship it home for me.
If you're gonna keep the car inside, then the Evo should be fine, imho.

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
All three of "The Toys" are inside most of the time.  "The Beast" came with a nice flannel lined cover that I have yet to figure out the brand - no tags anywhere, just an emblem screened into the nose area.  "The Toy" came with a dust cover but I picked up a Wolf cover a few years ago incase it had to spend any extended time outside.  "BIGBRRD" also came with a Wolf cover but after the resto I ordered a flannel backed cover from California Car Cover Company (clickable link).  Of the bunch it is by far the nicest, excellent fit, and very, very soft on the side that touches the paint.  The guy who did the paint was impressed with it - and he doesn't like car covers! I only cover my Joker with a California car cover, Superwave cover. 2 year old and still like new. Come with 4 year warranty, worth the money $369.00 when you have so much money invested in custom paint, the cover cost is nothing.  Indoor outdoor Very nice. NO JOKE! Sadly, Wolf is out of business. I had a Wolf cover for my C3 and lover it. The cover I bought for my C4 is made from NOAH fabric. I expect it will last a long time, since the C4 is rarely covered outside. There are several covers out there that will do a good job. Just rememebr that you get what you pay for.

Wow I had to think for a minute( thats is scary) my cover is now 30 years old, it tan with flannel lining, always inside. It also has a silk screened emblem on the nose but I think it Says Corvette America on it.

I agree with Tux I'm thinking we may get some deals at the gathering.

I never did get a cover for mine..I just can't do it..I want and need to see the motivation for me to go to work everyday..if its covered up I may just quit my job..and that would make the sig other upset! I know everyone likes the car cover thing..I just figured if its in the garage why cover it up?   But if I did get a cover it would be made of the flanel..I think they are pretty inexpensive and are meant for inside only..I guess it would keep the dust off it..

Hey joker..did they make your cover with the blower bump in it?
