Hey Everyone...I hope your winter is better than mine is going.  I'm so ready for spring!

So I have a dumb questionConfused...having just bought the Vette, and al the worries that everyone has fr the rusting, is there a special way that I need to wash it?  Is it OK to just was it like any other car or do I need to worry about rusting?

Thanks as always...

You can wash it just like a normal car,But I keep mine out of automatic car washes, wash it by hand at home, most of us have so many coats of wax or polish on them we just wipe em downThumbs%20Up

Hey Monte (76VetteGuy),
I agree with Ron 78 about keeping a Corvette out of automatic car washes. I always wash mine by hand weather it needs it or not. Big%20smile
Another thing I do is leave it sitting outside for a while so that the fresh air can get to any water that may have settled on any metal parts down under that you can't see. In my mind I'm preventing rust by doing this.
Just watch out for those birds overhead!

Like the guy's said, NO automatic car wash. I wash mine as little as possible. I just dust with California Duster, and use small amount of Maguires Quick Detailer on spots.

I like to blow dry mine with the wife's hot air blower.
Get in all the nooks and cranies.
Then take it out on the highway up to about 85 to get her really dry.
Especially the underbelly.

Just kidding. I'm not that anal.

But I do now a guy who has a 1996 that he bought new and has never washed it. Up until last summer it was never in the rain.
He is ANAL.

I wash mine with Maquires Car Wash (never in the sun) and then use a water blade to dry it. We have a tremendous amount of pollen here and the duster just won't keep it clean. Maybe I need to wash the duster.LOL   I haven't waxed in a long time.

I like Dave's hair dryer idea, not sure if the other half would. That would be a good purchase at a yard sale. Then you could by-pass the heater element.

California Duster is the way to go for the easy way or when you got a little more time, I just today used the Eagle spray & wipe Nano Wax, it's prettty good stuff and worked real good on my old paint so if you got a great paint job it should do wonders! I do agree with all, stay away from auto car washes, if you have to use one make sure it is touchless and watch out for that high pressure water!Big%20smile (A California mobile detailer used deionized water, from a cartridge & a water tank, to spray down the cars to aviod spots from trapped water.)Thumbs%20UpAaron19762008-03-04 20:58:30
