Thanks for all the reply's. I sure feel better bout leaving it down.
Yes a large towel rolled up in the window works great and falls right in the back when the top is lifted.

BTW, No guys will EVER sit on MY Vette.

But them scantly clad women will have to pass the wife test. (And thats a tough test to pass...)

Vette(s): 1971 convertible,375 HP 350ci,Muncie 4-speed,Edelbrock aluminum heads and RPM air-gap manifold,HEI distrubiter - old school mechanical tach drive. LOUD side exhaust!
My top stays down during the summer. Late fall, winter, and spring I leave it up when in the garage. Not sure if it does any good, but I also put a towel in the fold when the top is down.

Now as far as someone sitting on the top - my rule is thatg only Jessica Alba can sit on the deck lid. There are two reasons for this. 1. Do I really have to say it? She's not ugly...Big%20smile 2. If the lid cracks, she can afford to fix it! Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing

Never was a "vert" person. Now you've got me rethinking that John.

Is there anything to apply to the canvas that helps it stay nice and soft?

How about getting the blemished look out of the window?

My top is in good shape cept for the back window...

During the Summer the Tops are DOWN in my 64 72 & 98 Verts, well at least
90 percent of the time as I have been know to drive in the rain and I'm almost bald...

Anyway The major problem with this is that the Vinyl Top itself can get wrinkles...not good for the looks of the car especially if you ocassionally show the darn thing... Solution is to put the top up and use a hair drier to stretch the wrinkles out...

As for the Towel... I have the pillow in one of the cars (who knows which one however ...I normally do not worry about protecting the "glass" BUT then again I only show my car in NON NCRS shows etc and therefore I do not have to show it with the Top UP...

I used Rag Top cleaner & sealer on my white top for the 01. It came highly recomended by other vert users. I purchased it at NCM when I was there in June. I suppose it will do a great job if the top ever gets wet..... Tuxblacray2007-08-05 17:54:11

crazy but no harm done!

i've seen tops left down for awhile but never during the cooler weather as
