Does anyone use a buffer for waxing? If I get one should I be looking at the 10"? 6"? 2400rpm? non circulating type? what features should I be looking for?

I don't use a buffer for applying or removing the wax but I do use one after I remove the wax with a towel. I use a 10" orbital buffer just as a finishing touch to make sure I get an even buff. I did try to apply wax with the buffer when I first got the buffer but found out I did more wax clean-up all over the car from the wax being thrown everywhere.
A couple guys in my club do use high speed buffers to apply and remove wax but from what I hear, you have to be EXTREMELY carefull because it is very easy to burn through the paint.

Every once and a while i'll use a buffer with a wax that says to use a buffer(very carefully) and then sorta hand wipe it off, wash it again(stuff thrown everywhere ) and then just dry it off. Makes a difference!

Sometimes if your paint is real dull or your really trying to clean something up you can use a buffer and something such as turtle waxes polish(in a green round can) But you have to be very careful, you can take the paint off real fast! Next I usually wax it and possibly wash. The polish don't throw very bad.

I use a 6" regular buffer. I would like to have a 10" orbital buffer. It would be good to have both, the 10" to do major body panels, and then use the 6" to do small stuff the other couldn't reach. How ya like that orbital buffer Glenn?

I do like it. Certainly can not hurt the paint with it and it does a nice job.

i use a ARMSTRONG buffer. works great , dosen't scratch, variable speed, recharable with just a few beers.

forget about mechanical buffers........do it the old fashioned way, using Zaino Brothers products. www.zainobros.com You will not believe the results--It is amazing what Zaino did for my '73-Was considering painting the car-now people ask me if it has just been painted.
