Hey guys,
How do you remove the tint from your windshield and also get the sticky glue off the window? Someone sugguested gasoline? Hmmmm! Don't know? Any suggestions?

you can use rubbing alcohol or acetone (nail polish remover). alcohol
would be better as acetones smell can get to you and plus can damage
plastics. they do have adhesive removers at the auto stores too. as far
as gasoline goes i wouldn't even consider that as the fumes can ignite
also. then again that would remove the adheasive, the glass, the car,
YOU,etc...

Or try hot soapy water first before trying solvents.
Normally window tint is applied by spraying soapy water on the glass and the adhesive side of the tint for positioning purposes. Then the tint is squeegeed to push the liquid out to let the adhesive cure. So I believe the adhesive may be water soluble.

When I got my 82, the previous owner had put tint film on the rear window. I'm sure it looked "OK" in the beginning but it was showing its age. I had it "steamed" off, no scraping, no glue, no elbow grease. The guy did it for me for $50.00 which I was glad to pay not to have to crawl into the luggage area on my back. I did cover my rear compartment doors with plywood when I took it to the tint shop though, didnt want bubba to put his knee through my compartment doors. Good luck with the removal, it's a pain to remove by most methods.

I think Wal-Mart sell window tint remover in the automotive section, but I don't know how well it works.

Thanks guys, I knew my C3 folks had the answers. I'll try the alcohol, steam and find a Wal-Mart also. I have an '81 with the tint on the front windshield, which is annoying now. The tint on the windows came off easily but left some glue. I'll let you know what works. 
I ran into the guy that tinted my windows today. So for the heck of it I asked him how he removes the adhesive residue. He said it's a PITA, but he uses a razor blade and scrapes the glue off that way. Not a fun job.
Now on the back window with rear defrost, Do this on a hot sunny day.(I found this interesting) he said that he uses a old piece of the clear backing that window tint comes bonded to. Cuts it to size of the window, sprays down the backing and the window with soapy water. Let it cling to the window surface in which the adhesive is on. No squegee'in. Let it get hot and then periodically try pulling the clear backing off. If the adhesive comes of the window and clings to the clear backing, the glass is hot enough. If not, let it bake in the sun for awhile longer.
So this is from a guy that does it for a living. Whether it's right or wrong, I don't know.
Or he suggested going out to your car at 2 am and throw a rock through the window, and let the insurance company pay for a new window.
