I have a 1977 and winter is approachingCry.  I store my car in a heated garage but wanted to know the best way to winterize it.  Any special things I need to do?  Also, wanted to get some opinions on car covers, like which ones are good and should I use one.  Thanks for all of your help!  I appreciate it.

Hi Matt. Our environments are soooo different in winter,  I'm not sure my input will do you much good. I love covers. I use Noah. I've tried others but nothing will survive the west coast sun very long. Noah has been the best and does help keep the dust off. If you were storing outside, the dirt will penetrate through after time, as with all breathable covers. Might give you an edge and last quite a while if used indoors.

I don't store my Vette for the winter, it's in the garage but I use it in the winter if the weather is good & there's no salt on the roads. The cold won't hurt it.

With a heated garage I'd be working on my off season to do list.

Your car should do very well over the winter. Clean it up, wax, oil change maybe, disconnect battery add a trickle charge and you could boost the pressure in the tires. I don't have heat in my garage and that's about all I do.

I also get it out every few weeks and drive it for 30 - 45 minutes, depending on how the roads are. I find it's just better to drive them when you can - get 'em up to temp and run through the gears, brakes - etc.

Now get that list ready and enjoy that heated garage!

Depressing as it may be, I'm considering the new info r.e. winter storeage.
Lots of good ideas there!
Mine sits in an unheated detached garage under a cover.
I'm with Willis 76 on driving it a bit when weather permits.
I try to run it (on a dry day) for around 20 minutes once every ten days or so. And when the roads are dry I take it out for a short ride.
Question; Is it better for the motor to run it "under load" every now and then or will just letting it idle in the driveway accomplish the same thing?

Mine sits for probably 4 months under wraps. I don't think I have ever just gotten them out for a lil ride in the winter. (The Indy weather isn't that great!) Unless I have been working on them they just sit. I do use a trickle charger or I pull the battery. (I've done both)

For no longer than this time period 4 months they will be fine. At least in the last 20 years I have never had any ill experiences from this type storage.

I do take some storage precautions as are outlined in the links above. Heck I probally added my .02 in some of them I didn't look. I didn't have to cause I know my bro's & sistas here on this forum wouldn't leed ya a stray!

Thanks Tux.
I'll add a trickle charger this winter.
(Sometimes in the winter I just have to go out and check it over. It's like cabin fever, but worse.)
