72 350 with auto trans and A/C doesnt have one. Mine has the larger radiator to compensate for this. Confused me at first, but mine was an un-molested original when I got it from Cousin who owened it since 74.

Vette(s): 1972 Black C3 automatic with red interior. Options include AC, PS, PB, Am/Fm Wonderbar stereo.
Thanks guys.  I guess I won't worry about it.  I don't see anywhere it would have been mounted, so I have to assume it never had one.

I am sure you did not have one.  All Air conditioned cars had brass radiators, and therefore no expansion tank.  All aluminum radiator cars had aluminum tanks.

It's confusing to start with, which set-up had what set-up...add to that the fact that a PO may have added the recovery tank, or replaced the radiator and removed the tank....Yeeeeesh. It's enough to drive a person nutz....and it would be a short drive for me anyway...Wits End

There is/was a directive regarding what engine/trans/radiator/option cars got the tank or not...it just don't make a lot of sense...

Alum. radiator with x-pansion tank. No filler on rad. Only used with manual trans. as there is no cooler in rad.

Copper & brass rad. No X-pansion tank. Filler on rad. Trans. cooler in outlet tank. HOWEVER, my 71 Small block, Man. has C&B rad with no trans. cooler, no x-pansion tank. I see no ryme or reason to what rad went with what model.Confused
