Topic: '82 defroster vacuum leak
in Forum: C3 Cooling and Heating Systems
If memory serves correctly, its buried behind the instrument cluster. I didnt have to remove mine but thought I was having trouble with it last year. I could see it with a mirror without removing my center instrument cluster but it was buried so deep I couldnt touch it. Are you sure its the actuator that is bad? Have you checked the vacuum hose that supplies vac to the doors. It runs off of a "T" in the vac line near the brake booster and "T"s into one of the lines that comes off of the metal check valve to the headlight system. Check the plastic "T" and the hose where it goes through the firewall gromet before you tear into the actuator if you havent already done that.

You know what would be great, a step by step series of photos of dash removal and key component identification and locations. I haven't seen that anywhere except in some vague, generic, faded black and white photos in the repair manuals. I know I would use it, probably as well as the rest of the forum users. It's just a thought!
thanks again, Terry.
