I recently bought a 76 L-82 vette and the previous owner said the A/C was all there but not hooked up.? He said he usually drove with the T-tops off and it was not hooked up when he bought it and he just never bothered to hook it up. What do i need to do to get it up and running again? Thanks!

Vette(s): 1978 INDY PACE CAR #3016 of #6502 built. Has original Pace car decals still in GM boxes the way it was delivered to GM dealers. per NCRS "UPDATE" Decals applied as of 3/8/02 (ALL ORIGINAL)
Ann,
I have been trying to decide on what kind of advice to give you on your problem. The previous owner did not give you much information about the situation. When he said it was not hooked up that could be a wiring problem, which could mean one of your major components of the system was not hooked up. Like the blower or the compressor for instants. But, if you turn your AC on and you are still getting air out of your vents and it is hot it could be a common problem that happens a lot. It would need to be recharged with refrigerant. Either way, if you are not sure what is wrong I would take it by your local AC shop and have them check it out. Hope this helps.

til i get her fixed i'll just drive with the tops off too so i can wave!

My AC is in the same condition. Currently i drive with the top down but have had the AC looked at. one shop wants to change over to r145 but after some reasearch i want to get it back together with r12. r145 runs at higher pressures and from what i have found will work as well as r12 only if the AC system was designed to use it.

I bet if we put our minds ( and dollars ) to it, we could turn Adam's car into a convertible. Saws-all is a truely wonderful device
.
On the other hand, I bet Adam's car is a whole lot warmer in the winter than one of the convertibles.
