Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
While removing a/c hoses to clean engine bay and paint. I noticed there was some whitish crud (for lack of better term)in the hoses. Is there something I can clean these out with?? How do I know if there still good?? I dont want to replace if I dont have to $$, but it would be worse to get everything put back togeter and them not work...Thanks.

Someday!

The white stuff is crap from the dryer. I shot compressed air through the condensor and lots came out of mine. Did replace all of the hoses, evaporator, rebuilt the compressor, new o rings, and of course a new dryer. Anytime the system is apart for any length of time you will need a new dryer.

Not an A/C expert, but I'll try anything, at least to learn something. Expensive, but what on a Vette isn't? |blinkyeyes|

Yep, that is the desicant. You will need a new dryer. There is a flush agent available for cleaning the system. Check with a few parts houses to find it.
