I am in the process of replacing ac parts. My line from my accumulator was and has been broken since I bought the car. So since I am replacing radiator I figuered I would replace condenser, and the accumulater. one manual stated I needed to add refrigernant oil to both of these parts before reinstall. Does anyone have any idea of where I can get the oil and if in fact it needs to be added. I cant seem to find clear info on this. Also what type of oil do I use? Thanks

I think I will stay with r12, How difficult would a switch to 134 be? and how many components would need to be changed?

My 2 cents. I have had C-3's since they came out and their a/c system is and always will be poor at best. You can spend and spend and it still will not be as good as a new one.
The real consideration is the car. If it is 100% original then you should stick with the original system. You will most likely never be pleased with R134 in a R12 system. It works but the system was made for R12. If the car is not original and you want cold air, then put in a system made by Hot Rod Air for about $1200 and that is the last money you will spend. With the old system, it is likely that you could spend the same $1200 every two or three years and it still won't work well. I think there are other systems out there now but they are all basically the same. I have installed two HRA systems in C-3's and will soon do another one. They work great and keep you cool.
The most difficult part about putting the HRA system in is geting the old system out.

I will do my best for pictures this weekend. Basically, everything is inside and under the dash. They give you a precut piece of black plastic to cover the hole where the old unit was. If you have a post 78 model, you give up your glove compartment. As indicated in my earlier post, the hardest part of the install is getting the engine compartment a/c components out with the engine in. That part will not come out without cutting parts of the ears away. Easy if the engine is out. I just looked at their website hotrodair.com and it seems as if the price has gone down to $900 for the 3 vent unit, which I have. For a few extra bucks, they will wire a switch to fit into your dash. For post 78, you will have one knob, which you can hide to control the temperature. The unit is a bit louder than the original but what C3 is quiet. I took my 73 out yesterday, temperature was in the mid 90's, the car is rarely driven and it cooled rapidly. Take you time, follow the instructions and it can be done in a day. I will provide telephone assistance also. Picture soon; we are pouring concrete on our driveway.

My doghouse is long gone and I have a billet aluminum plate in it's place.
Does it have it's own fan or is the factory fan used?

It has its own fan. It is a complete unit. The only thing you can use from your car is the switch plate but only if you want to.
