Does this work by electrical switch? It will move from off to max AC and no farther. If it's a switch why will it work only a little.Seems like a bad switch woild make the entire thing inop.If I need another one I haven't found one in the catalogs.Any ideas?

I had the same problem on my 76 vette which is a large round dial,my

switch works off vacuum, but found it was rubbing up against the

automatic shifter cable

I see those all the time on E-bay,used and new.Maybe you can pop the console and see if anything is interfering with the control. There is a vacuum control manifold on the back of the unit. It may have siezed up or something may have shifted under there, like Tony said, and is jamming it.Take a look before you buy one.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

The 82 is different guys, it's a slide not a rotary switch.

But the information is basicly the same.  There could be something jambing the slide, or the vacuum switch it operates could be stuck.  Open the console and take a look.

zgator, this may sound silly, but if your a/c slide is above the heat slide, (my 77 is) take your heat slide and slide it back and forth a few times with a little muscle, this might push whatever seems to be jamming your a/c slide away. good luck, gene
