I'm so confused I'm having a problem with my controls. When the fan is on high nothing I do will shut it off. The only way is to disconnect the battery. I have replaced the control asm (wheels & plate), high fan relay, valve asm. I will be replacing the control switch (low, med, high), Htr/AC low blower switch asm. I have a funny suspicion that I have a short somewhere  Any idea's ?

The high speed on the blower is controlled by the relay. There is a problem with the relay, or the relay is getting a signal to engage all the time.
I'll check the wiring diagram and get back on which wires to test. Adams' Apple38649.5914351852

O-tay........The relay has 4 wires.
1) Orange
2) Purple
3) Dk Blue
4) Blk
The orange wire comes from the 12v "hot all the time" junction block, on the driver side fender. It is the 12v supply for the blower.
The purple wire comes from the blower resistor, and it changes color to Dk. blue there. It is also the wire that feeds the blower mtr.
The Dk. blue wire on the relay, is the signal from the blower switch. This is what energizes the relay, and sends the full 12v to it for "high".
The black wire is the ground.

If the dk. blue wire is shorted to 12v somewhere, then the relay will stay engaged. You could have a bad switch, and get high all the time.(that didn't come out right , but you know what I meant!)
The only other thing that would give you full-time high blower, is the relay, itself.
Check the dk. blue wire at the relay, key off. If you have 12v there w/key off, then you have to track down where the wire is getting the voltage.
If there is no voltage on the dk. blue wire, then check the purple wire at the relay. There should NOT be any voltage there, until the blower switch is turned to "high". If there is voltage there, then the relay is stuck.
Remember, the relay has 12v supply all the time, so if the signal(dk. blue) is shorted to 12v+, the relay will stay engaged.
There is a slim possibility that the resistor is melted/shorted, but even then, would only give 12v to the blower if the key was on, and the A/C system on.
Good luck, and happy hunting!

Joel has good info here.  Don't forget, if the relay contacts stuck, it would give you the high all the time as well.  That's my guess.  Just unplug the relay.  If the fan stops, and the wires are as Joel describes, replace the relay.

Finally got the problem fixed . Thanks to Joel, and Ken, your advice made the process easier. It took awhile, but eventually the problem was hidden within a bunch of wires that were taped together. All I have to do is recharge the AC. However, nothings goes according to plan. I now have another problem which I'll post for advice.
