My ac on my 81 quit blowing air. Compresser kicks on, belts turn ac but no cold air out the vents. What do I check first fuses? Thanks vettebeige81

Check fuses, first. Then check the blower mtr. with a jumper wire to 12v to see if it's operational. If the blower works with the jumper, but not with the switch inside, then the problem is either going to be the switch, or the wiring to or from the switch to the blower mtr.
Also, there is a possibility the the "blower resistor" is bad, but it rarely fails on all speeds, usually only one speed will not work.
The fact that it does not blow on any speed leads me to think either the mtr. is fried, or there's no juice to the switch. Check the switch with a voltmeter to see if there is 12v getting to it, after checking the fuses.
I don't have the wiring diagrams for an '81 here @ home, but there should be at least one terminal at the switch connector that has 12v anytime the key is on, and the control set to anything but "off".

Does the blower work for the flow-thru ventilation with the switch turned on? If so, it's not the problem. It should be running whenever the switch is on. What you can also do is pull the wiring plug from the blower motor and clean the contacts and reinstall. That's what the problem with mine was and was a simple fix. From what I've been told by a Corvette shop it's a very common problem and people think they need a new blower motor.
