I'm still chasing the cockpit heat problem I've had for the last year. I know the air handling box draws so called fresh air down from the passenger side of the wiper tray. What I can't seem to figure out is how to get to the door that opens/closes the air handler box. When I operate the A/C on max air, the trap door on the passenger side kick panel opens to allow the air to flow from the interior to the air handler. Is there an additional door behind that door that opens/closes to allow outside air into the handlers, or is there only one door that should be closing/opening to switch from interior air to exterior air. |headscratch|

I know this doesn't help but I too have been looking for that door for a year now. The best I can figure is that it is on the passenger side of the wiper tray, behind the fender and forward of the door jam. The passenger side kick panel door has nothing to do with it and I've never been able to see or feel anything from there. The kicker is that I have the assembly manuals and there are no pictures and no mention of this door anywhere! Let me know if you find anything.

I spent a few hours this weekend looking for a fix for the heat. I foamed every seam/crack/hole in the fire wall. I secured the passenger side kick panel door open, but still no joy. Hot as ever after about half an hour of driving. I did locate the trap door control for the heat control. It's located behind the glove compartment liner. There is a switch associated with the control behind the glove compartment liner. Can't figure out what it controls. Any idea what the switch might control?

My next attempt will be to disconnect the heater blower switch completely. Since the blower works all the time on low speed, maybe somthing is happening that causes the blower to speed up when the sensor gets warm.

I welcome any imputs on this. Everybody seems to acknowledge that the heat is a problem, but nobody seems to know how to fix it. "Save the Wave"--Darrell
