I saw a radiator cap with a built in temperature gauge at Auto Zone yesterday.  Looked real nice.  Anybody use one.  If so, how does the temperature reading compare to the gauge inside the car and how do you like?

Hey Steve,

I went out and took a look myself.  Those do look interesting.  I'd love to hear from someone who has used them too...

Thanks,
JSGarner

Yea, I wish some one would chime in.  It was Mr Gasket brand and 24 bucks, I think.  With all the temp problems of the C3, you would think someone would have one.  Seems like a good idea.  Maybe I will try one.  Thanks.. steves742008-05-17 07:24:30

Steve,

I ran out to my local Auto Zone and picked one up.  It's on my '82 as we speak.  I'll let you know how it works out...

If you have any specific questions...just let me know.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention....we'll see how it goes...

I have one of those caps on one of my Avanti's.  Looks nice and seems to be pretty accurate.

Hey Gunslinger,
How much difference between the cap and the temp gauge?

Ever seen anything 'Mr. Gasket' that wasn't accompanied by 'Made In China'? Bought a dipstick assy for my Vette and it ticks me off every time I pull it out and see 'Made In China' stamped on it. Angry longhorn2942008-05-17 18:52:32

I can relate to that "china" thing.  Anybody know of a different brand or company that makes a similar cap?

Hey JSGarner, whats your initial reaction to the cap you installed?  Thanks

Initial reaction is that I like the look of it installed.  I didn't get the opportunity to drive the car this weekend (raining...and I don't let any rain hit my baby Approve)...so I'll have to wait a bit to check its use...

I'll keep you updated...

There seems to be very little difference...the cap is new and so are the gauges and sending unit so it seems to be a fair comparison.  I'd say the cap and temp gauge are essentially equally accurate...very little difference.

The cap works all the time...the gauge only works when the switch is on.
