Well folks, I read so many posts about how installing water shut offs on the heater core hoses (both of them) could cool the cabin temps that I tried it. I actually installed mine about two months ago but the weather has just recently gotten into the 90 degree range here. If any of you have been considering making this mofification, dont wait any longer !!!!! It made a DRAMATIC difference in the inside temp of my vette. Thanks to all the folks here who have posted on this modification in the past, you convinced me and it definately works. Stuff like this you can't get anywhere else, this forum is fantastic.

Glad to hear it worked for you, it does make a difference. Unfortunately for me my cabin temp gets really hot ,
the valves did help, but until I Insulate the cabin (all original interior) and find any openings or worn out seals in my firewall/vents I'll be a burning
A BB and headers don't help much in controlling the temp.

I also need to get my AC working too.
Glad your happy with it. Now enjoy the summer

And for you Cookie
get a bigger towel

Thanks to All;
Thanks to all that give suggestions on my cooling problem
I found two things that were wrong thanks to the advice
from my fellow C3vr's. The Air is strong and cold, which will
be good going across the desert. See you guys in Carson
City. Marion

Once I insulated the floor.. I think it cut the temp 50% at least that's what my wife thinks
... seems the passenger side was worse... go figure...

I actually remove the heater hoses in the summer . Just recirculate the water from top to bottom... you just won't have any heater at all if you need it... it is very rare I will need heat when I have it out even in the spring and fall BB is a heater for sure..

How about with my aftermarket A/C with everything under the pass. side dash. Would shutoff valves have the same result in reducing the heat? It does have a shutoff on one hose that works off the temp. wheel. With that I should just need one more on the other hose??
I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

I'm actually using a beach towel, I'm also looking at a set of asbesto boots similiar to what the guys in Nascar use.
My last resort is to just wear the boots and go naked, that will be worth a hoot or two
!

IMHO...The advantage is shutting it off closer to the source, and the valves being used have a more positve shut-off then the normal everyday heater control valve...
