Has anyone had any experience with this alternative to switching to R-134a?

Check it out at  autorefrigerants.com

Thanks,
Jim

Almost looks to good to be true. I went to the site and read up on it and seen you still have to change the fittings to the 134a style which is not a big deal. I would be interested to see if anyone has used it and what they think about it.

ES12 is not listed on my substitute refrigerent by EPA but maybe it is to new.

And what have we learnd about that, hmmmm?Ouch

I haven't used it, or even heard aboot it. I have used several other "drop in" replacement refrigerants for R12, and NONE of them have lived up to their hype. In fact, a LOT of them actually have propane in them...not a good thing at all.
Freeze12 is junk, as well as another brand called Frig12....
I'll have a look at the info, and see what they say aboot this new stuff, tho.

Does ENVIRO-SAFE have EPA approval?

ENVIRO-SAFE is a zero ozone depleting "second generation" replacement for R-134a and all other substitutes for Freon that are non-ozone depleting. Unlike R134a, it is also non-global-warming .  EPA's Final Rule, issued April 1, 1994, states:

"In this final rule, the Agency has determined that second generation replacements, if they are non-ozone depleting and are replacing non-ozone depleting first generation alternatives, are exempt from reporting requirements under Section 612"

[/quote]

Notice here that the question was not really answered....it does not specifically state "Yes, it has been approved by the EPA"....

I'm not liking the stuff I'm reading, but to be fair, I'm kinda just glancing over it right now....[;)}

If you look at the adds for any drop in refrigerant it will tell you its the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its new so it may take a while to discover this stuff is crap, just like all the rest of them. I will never understand why people want to wander away from what works. R12 & 134A. I don't use drop ins in my shop and never will. One of the biggest problems I have with drop ins is not knowing what is in a system when I recycle it. So if its other than R12 or 134, my refrigerant in the holding tank is contaminated. All this forced me to have to invest $$$$ for an identifier. Also now I have to have a filter to suck the glue out of over the counter crap.

Pay the money and let the experts work on your AC. Its worth it in the long run.

N dats all ah got ta say bout dat.

Here's another thing that bugs me. They are more than happy to tell you the composition of other corktail soup refrigerants. But no where can I find what is actually in the stuff. Confused

Ok, here is the scoop on ES12, it contains butane propane, it is sold under several names, one of those being freeze 12. They will put whatever name you want on the can for you to sell also. From all indications it's not legal in the US.
Best to just stick to what we know works.
